Sheltered Workshop Assistant

Work Schedule:                         Approximately 10:00am - 3:00pm
Hours per Week:                       Part-time
Salary:                                        $12 to $14/hour (based on experience)
Employment Start Date:             Immediate

LSV Sheltered Workshop:

The Life Skills Village Sheltered Workshop provides meaningful employment to individuals with moderate to severe neuro trauma (brain injuries, strokes and aneurysms).  In our unique, downtown Ferndale facility our patients perform appropriate tasks that benefit a larger cause.  Examples of their purposeful work includes assembling hygiene kits for the homeless; preparing backpacks for distribution for Blessings In A Backpack; assembling "Fun-Kits" for children that are distributed to hospital waiting rooms; and much more!

The Sheltered Workshop Assistant:
The Workshop Assistant will assist the Workshop Manager with clients in all of their activities, while observing, documenting, and cuing them on socially appropriate behavior.  Responsibilities will also include:
  • Orienting new clients to the workshop.
  • Coordinating and supporting activities with the Workshop Manager 
  • Maintaining client scheduling, including coordinating with LSV therapists
  • Tracking client behaviors and providing daily notes to clinicians via electronic medical record
  • Helping clients understand the positive nature of their work and how it effects the lives of those in need.
  • Help foster a friendly atmosphere that inspires clients.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrate accuracy and efficiency
  • A positive attitude and high level of interpersonal skill
  • Independent and reliable transportation
  • Solid work ethic
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
