Cognitive rehab at Life Skills Village addresses a client’s specific issues with executive function, memory and attention. Based on the intake assessments and a neuropsychological evaluation, our clinicians determine brain-behavior deficits. Cognitive rehab is tailored to suit the individual needs of each client. Skills are practiced and strategies are taught to help improve function and/or compensate for remaining deficits. Each client's plan consists of three basic elements:
- Process Training for the development of cognitive skills involves strategic repetition. The focus here is on resolving deficits.
- Strategy Training associates the use of environmental, internal and external strategies to compensate for unresolved deficits.
- Functional Activities Training combines the above two elements in a variety of everyday situations allowing a client to focus on real-life change in a supported environment.
