Occupational Therapy Aide/Job Coach
Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 9am to 4:00pm, Varying hours on the weekends
Hours Per Week: 30 + Hours
Main Duties:
The Occupational Therapy Aide works under the licensed Occupational Therapists and Behavioral Therapists and is responsible for setting-up, attending and breaking-down simulated real-life modules and stations. OT Aides will role play and support specific situations and personalities as directed by clinical staff in order to enable clients to properly engage in appropriate goals and tasks.
There will be times that activities will take place in the community. Some positions will involve Job Coaching which take place in the morning, evenings and sometimes during the weekend. Clients are Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) patients with a wide range of impairments. Clinical Staff includes; Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologist, and Community Reintegration Specialists.
· Operate stations/modules as directed by therapists
· Monitor, record, and report observed behaviors of clients
· Assist clients with assigned activities
· Work in conjunction with therapists to promote client autonomy
· Simulate various situations and conditions to test client appropriateness and behaviors
· Role play and act out roles as directed by therapist during simulations of situations
· Show initiation and involvement in job by inquiring of therapists for additional tasks to help maintain and grow the company
· Job coach clients in the community and in the village
· Assist in community-based programs as needed
Qualifications:
· Some social science education
· Experience in education, healthcare/nursing, mental health, are a plus but not required
· Proficient spoken and written English, note writing is required
· Punctual, meticulous, and reliable
· Courteous manners with the public
· Flexibility to grow with the job demands
